Marbella’s Cultural Center

Summary: Marbella is not just a luxurious destination known for its beaches and nightclubs. It is also a location with great cultural and historical significance.

One of the places of cultural interest you might like to visit from your Marbella rentals, is the Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Center. Throughout this museum you can learn more about the Cortijo del Prado of San Francisco. This place was used as a farm during the early 18th century and was subsequently expanded during 1756 and 1850.

Initially, this farm was made of an oil mill and a sugar mill. The gardens were planted afterwards and exotic species of plants were introduced gradually. Some of the plants were brought from the Philippines. This place was remodeled in 2001 and it comprises the Municipal Archives.

The Oil Museum is also part of the old farm and it displays the 19th century machinery. In addition, various objects related to that practice are displayed as well. The history of the machinery and other information are summarized on panels and photographic documents, placed near the exhibits. Besides the Oil Museum, the Archeological Exhibit comprises elements that belong to the prehistory and the history of Marbella.

The Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Center is opened from Monday to Friday. The following schedule is valid for the summer months: 9 AM to 2.30 PM and 5 PM to 9.30 PM. The locals do not charge any kind of fee for visiting this place of cultural interest. It is not among Marbella’s most known place, but it definitely worthy of a visit.
